Mom's New Job

Mom got a new job as a hair stylist. The pay is not great but the satisfaction is worth it, especially for Angie (ahh . . . the feeling of fingers running through my hair). Here are a few shots of the happy customer.

The front.

The side.

And the Back, in case you couldn't tell.

You're Witnessing a Miracle!

Yes...Your father's first ever blog entry!  Let me first of all thank Angie.  This is something I have always wanted to have and do - A Family Newsletter.  Angie, I am so grateful that you got it off the ground (although you may regret it, as now I will post brilliant advice constantly!).  My first posting, however, is not advice, it is an announcement.  No, Mom is not pregnant...but we are going to retire!!!  I turned in the papers on Friday.  They are actually paying me to leave!  I guess they can hire 2 teachers for one of me, so it makes financial sense to give money to get people to retire.  Mr. Boyle is going to go too, so it will be a big change for EHS social science department!  I will continue to work.  Some of my options are teach college part time, work for Riverside County Office of Education (Kenn Young is the Superintendent, and Mike Jones is over school improvement), Walmart greeter, or become a model.  The one that I am currently working on is starting our own business called REAL EDUCATIONAL SOLUTIONS - Consulting and Publishing.  REAL stands for the 4 essential things to make education work - Resources, Environment, Achievement (the A is larger to have the emphasis on achievement) and Life-Long Learning.  Currently, my public relations firm, Royal Public Relations, is reviewing this to explore the feasibility and marketing of the name...who knows...maybe we'll just call it Get Smart!  We've fasted and talked to everyone in the world, (Bishop, Taxman, etc.) and I still haven't had any bad feelings about it.  We have no worries...we have 5 married children we can live with! (Cody, can we stay in the dorm if things get really bad?).  I will keep you posted, but it is kinda exciting after doing the same thing since I was 22.  I will miss the kids and the social science guys.
One other note I would love (actually the Olsingch's would probably love) to get comments on (that means you have to click the box below) is about the family reunion.  I know, I know, you think we just had one!  Mariah is getting married May 24 in Salt Lake and Aimee will be coming down for it.  It would save her money, we'd have less crowds to fight trying to get a campsite if we did it the week before, like Wednesday to Friday the 14-16 (arriving at the location Wednesday afternoon or evening).  Cody is planning on leaving on his mission at the end of May so he could attend the reunion.  We might be able to work out the Sacrament meeting he speaks at to be that Sunday.  Mom and I are planning a summer trip to Washington (Aunt Delores), Edmonton (The Low's), Minnesota (Aunt Sam, et al), and Utah (Hopoate's and Crippen's) so it would be great to free up summer (besides, I don't know what my schedule at Walmart will be).  We had a tentative discussion about this, but I think that the Southwick's and Hopoate's may have been gone.  Please post your comments and ideas.
Look forward to my next blog---Greatest Things I Ever Got and None of You Should Be Without!  Love, Dad and Mom
